A Varsity Lakes Rotary Local Grant Initiative 

Forget 'Shark Tank - We've got 'Shark Lake'

The Rotary Club of Varsity Lakes is currently taking applications from Groups & Organisations within the Varsity Lakes area (Postcode: 4227) for funding of up to $5000 through its SHARK TANK project - called SHARK LAKE.

Do you know of / or belong to a local Varsity Lakes Community Group or Organisation that can demonstrate it;​

·          Provides Leadership in our Community

·          Helps generate pride and ownership in our Community

·          Helps build and maintain Social Capital in our Community

·          Helps Develop, build, strengthen and improve our Community

·          Advocates for and promotes our Community

·          Helps bring our Community together

·          Has an initiative that will better the lives of members of our Community

​​Eligible groups are invited by the Varsity Lakes Rotary Club to apply for funding through the SHARK LAKE movement which has been put in place by the club to support projects, equipment costs and initiatives that will better the community of Varsity Lakes.


The Shark Lake initiative is a 3 stage process.

Stage 1: Organisations submit their applications for review. All applications will be assessed by the Varsity Lakes Rotary Club members. Please note unfortunately not all will be successful or invited to proceed to stage 2

Stage 2: Successful applicants will be invited to present their submissions in person to the club members at one of the Club’s Weekly Tuesday Lunch Events. The top 3 will be chosen to go through to the final stage.

Stage 3: Three finalists will be asked to present their submission on stage to an audience in a fun ‘SHARK TANK’ style format at next year’s ROTARY SHARK LAKE event to be held at Hotel CBD – February 21st 2020.

All 3 finalists will receive a guaranteed $1000 each / and the outright winner will receive up to $5000.

To be eligible you must be;

  • Invited by the Varsity Lake Rotary club or a club member to apply

  • Be domiciled in Varsity Lakes (Postcode 4227)

  • Have an ABN


And be one of the following incorporated entities

  • an incorporated not for profit organisation including:

    • incorporated associations, such as

      • Police and Citizen Youth Clubs

      • child care centres

      • surf clubs

      • local aged care bodies

      • Parents and Citizens, Parents and Friends groups and equivalent bodies

      • local rural fire services

      • local state emergency services

    • companies limited by a guarantee

    • indigenous not for profit corporations

    • religious organisations incorporated under legislation


You are not eligible to apply if you are:

  • a for profit organisation

  • an individual

  • a partnership

  • a university, technical college or school
